ARK SMART KEY SERVICE
Vehicle Smart Key Programming and Cloning
Posted pricing shown is for the deposit only. Full payment, including any additional labor, parts, taxes, or fees, will be due upon completion of service. If service location exceeds 25 mile radius an additional RPM of $1.00 will be added.
What it is
Smart key programming: Configuring a vehicle’s factory remote key or key fob so it communicates securely with the vehicle’s onboard computer (ECU/BCM). Programming links a unique key identifier to the car’s immobilizer system, enabling remote lock/unlock, push-button start, and anti-theft protection.
Key cloning (transponder cloning): Duplicating an existing transponder chip from a working key so a new physical key can start the vehicle without reprogramming the vehicle’s immobilizer. Cloning copies the transponder code into a blank chip.
When each is used
Programming is required for new OEM keys, lost-all-key situations, or when adding a second remote that must be recognized by the vehicle.
Cloning is used when you have at least one working key and want a quick duplicate without altering vehicle settings. It’s often faster and less invasive than full programming.
Typical services included
Diagnosis: Verify key frequency, transponder type, and vehicle compatibility.
Key cutting: Cut a mechanical blade (if applicable) to match the ignition or door.
Transponder cloning or OEM key programming using specialized diagnostic tools.
Remote frequency testing and battery replacement if needed.
Final verification: Confirm remote lock/unlock, immobilizer recognition, and push-start functionality.
Limitations and considerations
Not all vehicle makes/models support cloning; some modern vehicles use rolling codes, encrypted transponders, or OEM-only programming that requires dealer tools.
Lost-all-keys scenarios often require dealer-level access or a full module replacement and programming, which can be more expensive.
Security: Proper procedures are required to prevent unauthorized key duplication. Proof of ownership (registration, ID) is typically required.
Costs vary by vehicle complexity, key type (basic fob, smart key, proximity key), and whether on-site mobile service is used.
Why choose mobile pros (what we provide)
Convenience: On-site service at your home, work, or roadside—no tow or dealership visit.
Speed: Many cloning or programming jobs can be completed quickly with the right equipment.
Experience: Trained technicians who handle transponders, smart keys, and proximity systems for a wide range of makes and models.
